Online Saxophone Lessons
The saxophone is one of the most versatile and expressive instruments around — equally at home in classical music, jazz, pop, and rock. Melody Music Co-op offers private saxophone lessons in Kirkland and online for students across Seattle and Washington State. Whether your student is a complete beginner or looking to refine their technique and explore new styles, our teachers are ready to help.

We primarily teach alto saxophone, which is the most common starting point for new students due to its manageable size and fingering. We also teach tenor saxophone, and can work with students on soprano or baritone sax depending on their goals and the teacher's expertise. If you're unsure which saxophone is right for your student, alto is almost always the best place to start.
What You'll Learn
Our saxophone lessons build a strong foundation from day one and progress at the student's individual pace:

You'll also get the opportunity to perform in bi-annual recitals, and learn from experts in our bi-annual masterclasses!
Saxophone Lessons for Kids & Teens
Saxophone is typically recommended for students aged 8 and up — younger students may find the instrument physically demanding before their lung capacity and hand size are ready. Teens are often drawn to saxophone for school band, jazz ensemble, or because of a favorite musician, and we love working with that motivation. Our teachers meet students in their interests and build from there.
Saxophone Lessons for Adults
Adult saxophone students are always welcome — from complete beginners who've always wanted to play, to returning students who played in school band and want to pick it back up. Adult lessons are paced to your goals and schedule, with no pressure to follow a preset curriculum.
Do I Need to Own a Saxophone Before Starting?
You don't need to own one before your first lesson, but you will need one soon after starting. Your teacher can advise on a good beginner alto saxophone that fits your budget — there's a wide range of options and it helps to have guidance before buying. Renting is also a great option for younger students who may switch instruments.
