Piano Lessons
Piano is the most popular instrument we teach at Melody Music Co-op — and for good reason. It builds foundational music theory, strengthens coordination and focus, and opens the door to virtually every style of music. Our piano teachers in Kirkland and Seattle work with students of all ages, from young beginners to returning adult learners.

We offer piano lessons in three formats to fit your life. In-home lessons bring the teacher to your door anywhere in Kirkland, Redmond, Bellevue, or Sammamish. In-studio lessons take place at Almost Famous Performing Arts Hub in Kirkland. Online lessons are available to students across Seattle and beyond.
What You'll Learn
Our piano curriculum is built around developing well-rounded musicians — not just students who can play notes on a page. Lessons cover:
-
Proper technique — hand position, posture, touch, and tone production
-
Reading music fluently across clefs
-
Scales, chords, arpeggios, and music theory integrated into repertoire
-
Rhythm, timing, and expressive playing
-
Playing by ear and learning songs you love
-
Sight-reading and musical independence
-
Styles including classical, pop, jazz, and contemporary music
-
Musicality — phrasing, dynamics, and interpretation
You'll also get the opportunity to perform in bi-annual recitals, and learn from experts in our bi-annual masterclasses!

Piano Lessons for Adults
For students who want structured, recognized credentials, we offer curriculum through the Royal Conservatory of Music (RCM) and the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music (ABRSM) — two of the most respected music education organizations in the world. These programs provide clear milestones, examination opportunities, and a pathway from beginner to advanced. They're completely optional — many students prefer a casual, non-exam approach and that's equally welcome.
We begin piano students as young as 4–5 with age-appropriate introductory programs. Young learners build note reading, rhythm, and ear training through games and music they actually enjoy. We believe the best way to create a lifelong musician is to make early lessons genuinely fun.
It's never too late to start — or restart. We have adult piano students at every level, including complete beginners who've always wanted to play and returning students who took lessons as children. Adult lessons are paced to your schedule and goals, not a preset curriculum.
