Our guitar teachers are versatile and experienced across a wide range of styles. Whatever your goals, we'll find the right fit:

  • Acoustic guitar — folk, pop, singer-songwriter

  • Electric guitar — rock, blues, contemporary

  • Classical guitar — technique, notation, repertoire

  • Fingerpicking and fingerstyle

  • Music theory as it applies to guitar

  • Songwriting and improvisation

  • Performance prep and audition coaching

You'll also get the opportunity to perform in bi-annual recitals, and learn from experts in our bi-annual masterclasses!

Guitar Lessons for Kids

Guitar is a fantastic first instrument for kids — it's approachable, portable, and endlessly versatile. We typically start young students from age 6–7, though motivated younger students can begin on ukulele as a stepping stone. Our teachers keep early lessons fun, building chord foundations and simple songs that students actually want to play.

Guitar Lessons for Adults

Adult guitar students are always welcome at Melody Music Co-op. Whether you're a complete beginner picking up a guitar for the first time, or a returning student who played years ago and wants to get back into it, we'll meet you exactly where you are. No judgment, no pressure — just progress at your pace.

Do I Need to Own a Guitar Before Starting?

Not necessarily. Your teacher can advise you on the best starter guitar for your budget and goals before you buy. Many students take their first lesson before purchasing. We can also advise on acoustic vs. electric, size for younger students, and which accessories you'll need.
